Nigerian Mashed Yam

  • 12 small yam pieces. cut and peeled
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • a pinch of Cameroon pepper(optional)
  • ½ cup of milk
  • ⅓ cup of butter
  • ½ inch grated ginger
  • 2 grated small garlic cloves.
  • salt to taste
  • A handful of any type of cheese(optional)
  1. Cut yam into small sized pieces; then wash and boil until soft
  2. Drain water and mash into a smooth paste while adding the milk. Or you may use a food processor
  3. Add the ingredients and seasonings, whip the mashed yam some more and serve. You may serve with melted butter, spring onions and a sprinkle of cameroon pepper or any chili flakes
You may use any kind of potatoes for this recipe
