Chocolate Puffies(Puff-Puff)

IMG_2076 (2)

We love puff-puff, but I have to say I have two left feet when it comes to baking or handling flour. But I always try and try until I get any recipe involving flour right. I went through 9jafoodie recipe here and studied it for months. Yes months. I think I have to pray my way into flour handling 🙂 I even went on my sister Ifeyinwa’s blog post here and I studied it as well and I decided to give mine a shot

My son loves Puff-Puff with a passion and for me to have learnt this is amazing and a blessing and the addition of the chocolate was a plus. My friends who are close to me know my Ajebutter2 really well with his love for puff-puff. My Pastor would always pack some for him in little bowls and he would eat it all with no apologies. The boy can eat some puffies for the Continent of Africa!

Here is a photo of my first try

Cuisine: Nigerian
Serves: 6
Ingredients
  • 1¼ cup of all purpose flour
  • 1tsp of active dry yeast
  • 1 cup and 2 tbsps of luke warm milk(I added the 2tbsps when I found the dough a little too thick)
  • ⅛tsp of dry grinded pepper or pepper flakes
  • ¼tsp of nutmeg
  • ⅛tsp of salt
  • ¼ cup of sugar
  • ¼ cup of cocoa powder
  • oil for frying
Instructions
  1. Sift the flour and smoothly mix with all the dry ingredients
  2. make a well in the middle of the flour and pour in the warm milk and mix. It will be really soft. Cover and place in a warm place for 45 minutes to an hour to rise
  3. heat up some oil until 350 degrees and fry for about 3-5 minutes or until done but not burnt
  4. serve warm or with some ice cream
